Wow ok I guess its time to update this blog, been about 9 months. Was so busy all year haven't done a lot in the house. All three boys and I did 6 weeks staff at boy scout summer camp then went to Louisiana for a lil over a week, after that Aaron left for Washington and leaves for Iraq tomorrow, so we had a lot to do with him, and all summer. Also had family evacuees from hurricane and had to shift work area around a bit, but hey got a lot done then...lol...
First here is the living room painted (I know its blue lol) after I tissued it (white pic) and the lower is brown paper...love it!I still have to add the molding on to separate the blue and brown and the crown molding.

Have the fans and lights installed in living room now also.

Last were starting on porch!!!!

More later when I get a chance to get more pics....Hugs

Here is the completed kitchen sink with the overhead pot hanger I made. The log is a log we found in the river while we were doing the lake clean up for Boy Scouts. A beaver had chewed it down and it was still very solid. I just had Blake saw off one end to look sorta like a beaver chewed on that end also, I stained it, clear coated it, then Blake drilled holes for me to add the hard wear I painted black. Aaron hung it, holds 8 pots or pans....cool huh? I also added a shelf I made above the window to hold pretties and a light. Bathroom counter is all finished sink and faucet installed. All the parts are in for the tub we shall install it during the holidays after we get back from Texas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone....Hugs

WOW! It;s been 3 months since I last posted...I have heard this from many people...Sorry guys but I was just burnt out....Soooooooo I took a break.....I needed it to! Took several trips to Memphis, 1 to Mississippi and 1 to Louisiana....We also camped out every weekend in October and 1 in November for Boy Scouts. Wyatt and Blake both advanced to Life so they have to do their service project and wait 6 months then their Eagles! YAY!....so I really didn't have time to work on the house much less post. But I'm home now and back to work. We have 1 more camping trip this weekend, then we shall work till Christmas beings all my shopping's done, and all my out of state gifts are delivered....:)....Now to what we've done since summer....I had bought a porcelain white sink for my kitchen but had to purchase a different one because we couldn't find a stainless band to attach it to the counter top, new one's a stainless sink, bigger, but not as pretty so i settled for bigger....I had to redo the tile on the counter top because it was to big and we had to cut the counter, when I tried to cut the tile away it all lifted. Not a big deal but time consuming. I did this during the Thanksgiving holidays...uggggg...but now the kitchen sink and counter top are complete! ( Only thing left in Kitchen to do is chink a 1/2 wall, and put up the crown molding ). The master bath now has the tub I refinished in it but we are waiting on the hard wear to finish the install. I have added the last top coat of sealer to the master bath counter top and have to wait 2 weeks to install the sink. Other than that chinking is all that's left in this room. Master bedroom needs closet doors and chinking to be complete. I built my closet and Randy built his, I will build the doors, I will try to complete this task this week. Randy and the boys did the last part of the ceiling that needed to be completed upstairs ( Wyatt's room )over the holidays also. Then Blake insulated the attic part of that ceiling and a few other areas in attic to finish that off.

First picture is the sink counter top for master bath, done in concrete overlay. Second picture is Aaron's nightstand top also done in concrete overlay. I been very busy this summer. I stained and clear coated the staircase while the boys were in Louisiana for 2 weeks. Next pic Blake helped brace the side cabinet I fixed and was the only one small enough to get in it...lol...last 2 pics are the counter top in my kitchen and the dishwasher installed. See I do like blue.....but hay it's my house right.....

I had to cut this sink cabinet and add a foot to it, because it was to short when I bought it. I knew I could fix it, and it was the only one I could get that matched my cabinets. I extended it a foot then added a door, and now it looks a lil off with only one big door but I think it works. I put the plywood top then added a cement board on top for moisture safety. Gas was connected to the stove today and heaters installed in the bathrooms (winters here we loose power a lot so these are for back up). I added the molding on the counter top, Blake installed 1 of 2 veneer blinds, I had my claw foot tub sandblasted and buffed by Andrew Mitchem, he did an awesome job on it! I had him do the outside only. I was going to try and save the original inside, but sigh.....to bad of shape, so I have to paint it. I am going to try the good appliance paint. Lets hope it works! First pic is what it looked like when I got it, second is after cleaning....ugggggg.....Third pic you can see the outside good....It looks great! Fourth pic is first coat of paint....I think it will work!

Blake helped me install the lower cabinets and made the counter top for me. He also installed it. I added knobs to all the workable doors and drawers. I still have to install the fake drawers on the two left hand cabinet tops. Hard to see it in the pics but the second section is a china cabinet

to display my china, that's why there's no doors on this section. I also need to add the glass to the two right hand sections. It took 182 pcs of tile to do this counter top. I used the same tile I put on my antique cabinet. Checkerboard periwinkle blue and sand. Still have to add crown molding and chink. Also added a silverware box with 5 boxes. Look close in last 2 pics and you can see 1 basket, there will be 5.

The part of the floor I was able to install I grouted tonight. I also installed another upper cabinet, what can I say a woman never has enough room. I always wanted glass blocks in my bathroom, I hunted and hunted never found them but I did find a window 3' x 8' made from acrylic blocks made to look like glass. Even better because less to break. So I bought it. Took off all the aluminum and separated the blocks to what I needed. Here is the way it looks now. I am going to box it in and add crown molding to make it look like it was made to the wall. I also made this lil contraption to hide my water shut off behind the toilet....it was installed on the outside of the toilet instead of the inside....I don't like it showing that much so I'm going to hide it. The dowels are from the extras on the kitchen cabinets. I painted it white and I am going to weave cloth thru it and slip it right up next to the shut off valve so if need be we can get to it fast.Might add a plant on or near it.

Installed most of the kitchen floor tonight, didn't get much else done, had to many other things to do. The area of the walls that's not painted in where the lower cabinets go, so I didn't waste time painting it. Slowly working my way to a finish!

Ceiling in kitchen was textured tonight by Blake, Wyatt and I with a slight blue tint, its still a lil wet in first pic second one is dry, still have to add the crown molding to. Notice the lights in the cabinets, we installed them yesterday. Looks great at night! Kitchen needs a lil chinking and the rest of the floors installed and grouted then we can install the rest of the cabinets, and the counter top. Then this room is finished.I am hoping to make my deadline for August 8th. School starts the 9th so I want to be finished downstairs before then. Other than the kitchen I have 2 rooms to do. One to sand and paint other I have to sheet rock then putty sand and paint. Gonna be a tight deadline but maybe I can do it.

I am building this desk in our room for my computer/office area. I bought the draws and added a half circle 4 tier shelf I also bought at Welborn Cabinets, the top, side and braces and voila! You really can't see me in the picture but i'm there...lol...all I have to add is the slide out drawer for my keyboard below the top. I also tiled the kitchen counter in the corner next to the stove.it is draws I bought from Welborn, Grouted it and now have to add a lil molding. Added texture with paint to walls in the kitchen, then added a white glaze to calm down the bright blue. Hung the upper cabinets bought from Welborn also, but have to finish the floor to install the lower cabinets. Painted the side kitchen window and stained all kitchen logs. We getting there!
